Hello,
I'm Kathleen, one of the co-founders of Kala Adeona.
I'd like to welcome you and tell you a little more about us and how Kala Adeona came to be.
My journey with wellbeing & mental health started with a passion for helping others and a motivation to volunteer and be involved in local projects. This brought me into the voluntary & community sector with time working in Education and in Health. Then in 2017, Lauren & I founded Kala Adeona.
All in a name:
Kala is the Indian philosophy of time, recognising the cyclical and recursive nature of time, rather than a linear perspective. Adeona the Roman goddess of safe return and homecoming, especially of children returning home.
Lauren & I met while working in the local domestic violence services, we shared a passion for mental health & wellbeing, both highly experienced in working withTrauma. At that time our focus was on therapy services with associated CPD, Lauren a psychotherapist, myself a wellbeing psychologist, we developed into private practice.
Through our careers projects and systems were often extremely linear & within the not-for-profit sector the pressures of this evident. The communities created in the different work-based cultures we've experienced ranged from fabulous & supportive, to disempowering. Experiences shared by the wonderful individuals who've shared their stories with us at Kala.
Since establishing in 2017, the world has seen significant events that have had (and continue to have) major impact. The need for changing our approach to leadership, to wellbeing in the workplace and to prioritising our own wellbeing as practitioners is vital.
It is with this passion and energy that we welcome you to our community and look forward to getting to know you.
